As I read it, this PIR access is NOT free ... Back in Nov. 1989, Amos Bairoch indicated (INFO-GCG list) that the SwissProt entries DR line(s) cross-reference SwissProt to PIR & EMBL (when applicable). This is sort of a backwards way to find the PIR=EMBL #s, but might help. More info on request (net bandwidth, you know 8-).
