I'm writing this on a Xerox 6085, which is a direct descendant of the Xerox Star, which is a direct descendant of the Xerox Alto. The environment has also been ported to SunOS. The Star, the 6085 and the software for SunOS all were or are sold by Xerox; I don't think they ever sold the Alto, although a few of them made their way outside the company.
