A couple of newgroups which I find informative for that area: comp.mail.misc comp.sys.mac.comm In terms of actual programs: if popservice is an option, Eudora and TechMail are good programs. Eudora is avaible via anonymous FTP from ux1.cso.uiuc.edu:mac/eudora/ in Apple DiskCopy format. For more info: s-dorner@uiuc.edu. TechMail is from MIT, but I don't remember the FTP address.
