I have seen color prints which came from a color "laser" printer... The quality was excellent, but the unit cost about $250K (I don't remember the manufacturer.... Where I work, we are looking at buying a color printer... Kodak makes one that is 300 dpi, 8-bit continuous tone, for about $25K... It is not postscript (I plan to marry it with NewsPrint, from Sun, to make a pseudo-postscript printer)... Also, it is not a "laser" printer; it uses ribbons... A color ribbon gives 8-bit color, a black ribbon gives 8-bit grayscale... I have seen a lot of output from this printer and it is "photo-quality" (i.e. you really have to look close to tell that it's not a photo)... For the purpose you describe (rough draft/quick presentations) the Kodak printer may fit the bill... Hope this helps, Brian -- --------------------------------------------------------------- Maj.
