We'd like a way to get summaries of how much of that is email, and how much of that is going each way. I have a script that came with an early release of perl that does a crude summary of /usr/spool/mqueue/syslog, but it's still hard to figure out how much of the mail is leaving the system. (We have over 5000 entries in the password file, so there's a fair amount of email within the system.) (Oh, and we're on a Sequent B8 with Dynix, which looks a lot like 4.2 BSD with some enhancements. sendmail and smail and pathalias are what we use, I think.) And if we can save enough on our phone bill, we can go on the Internet and never have to worry about anything again ... 8-) (except disk space.) Email or post! I read all three newsgroups.
