I've searched high and low for some sort of material that talks about low-level control of hard disks, floppy disks, tape drives and the like, but I can't find anything. Where do people learn about this? Any pointers would be appreciated. P.S. By low-level control I mean the kind of software that controls a hard drive (say) though the CPU's I/O ports or through certain portions of memory, if memory-mapped I/O is used.
