I simply must respond to a couple to recent postings about CPSR.

Louis Giliberto says, "CPSR would probably be against hacking."  In fact,
CPSR has taken a very carefully measured stand which explicitly recognizes
the history and value of non-pernicious hacking.  (See the issue of CACM
which covered the Morris Internet worm.)

John Haugh writes of his disagreements with Helen Caldicott and "Silent
Spring," neither of which have anything to do with CPSR, and then, apparently
on the basis of those completely-unrelated episodes, expresses his
disbelief that CPSR could be "behaving scientifically and responsibly."

Come on, folks, if you don't like CPSR, fine, but don't tar CPSR with your
unrelated suppositions and dislikes.  Be reasonable.
