I do not know if don't think my first post about this got off this site. I have not tried this yet, but it seems that it might work. Rename /dev/error to something else recreate /dev/error as a named pipe. Write a small program to read the error device and write the records into the named pipe. If this will work the new program can be used as a filter for the "disk almost full" message and any other for that matter.
