The Mac architecture makes adding an 040 expensive, abut Mac users are used to paying high prices like the $7000 030 Mac IIfx. The Amiga 3000's CPU slot was DESIGNED with the 040 in mind. Just ask the designer, Dave Haynie, he's in this news group. An 040 card for the Amiga 2000 would be more expensive (>$2000) because the 32bit ram and HD controller had tobe put on the card. Difference: The Mac and A500/2000 are 16bit, the A3000 is 32bit.
