You will be able to come back to the 'main' door (which generates 2 worms each time you step there) later. 2. GETTING PAST THE PIT TO GET THE FLASK.....no trick except a quick mouse! You have to time it. I stood in front of the first pit and faced the right wall. You can see when the pit closes at the bottom left corner of your screen. Face this way, because the flask is easier to pick up. Then, after grabbing the flask, the 2nd pit will have closed about 4 beats after the 1st one closes. You'll still be able to see if its closed at the corner of your screen. Then scoot across. Of course, you can come down this way again and then go LEFT to take you back to the starting room.
