Help!!

I stumbled upon a 2.5 Megabyte file that is supposedly a worldmap.
now it has a filedescription with it that mentiones LAttice C,
but on a MACINTOSH (UGH) the files seem garbage.
Can anyone tell me what a 4-byte real is?
