Just to nit-pick a little : We had, if I remember correctly, nearly 600 people voting for (or occasionally against) the comp.sys.amiga breakup. I suspect that, just as in real life, an even larger number of participants didn't vote at all. At one nearby university, *none* of the Amiga users voted at all, and I *know* that some of them read the Net. Also you can run Usenet on less than a HD. I'm running this private node on three floppy drives (I once did it on two!). And of course Unix isn't required. There are also BBSs that offer Usenet, both Unix and DOS-based, for those who aren't power users enough to figure out Unix. (Or just don't have any other option.) Also, even a complete idiot can use a HD if someone formats it for him. >>[ After this, the message ends up with such a distorted margin it's essentially >> unreadable... ] > >Stephan is from France. Literate he may be, but he still hosed the message. 30K is quite a bit to read when it's 15 columns wide. *PS:* Neither my Organization: nor my sig quote were chosen for this occasion. I've had them for a long time now. -- * From the disk of: | jms@vanth.uucp | "You know I never knew Jim Shaffer, Jr. | amix.commodore.com!vanth!jms | that it could be so 37 Brook Street | uunet!cbmvax!amix!vanth!jms | strange..."
