Recently, two people have written about Word breaking (or not breaking)
footnotes at the bottom of a page.  I suggest they check the options chosen in
the "Format a Section" areaof the "format" menu.  Look especially at conflicts
with "store at end of text" where FNs are stored directly under the text, and
"store at bottom of page.  I would also point out that footnotes can be dragged
into positions other than the defaults while in the "Print preview" view.  Hope
