It came with low-level formatting done by T.P.I. Hard Disk Management Tools and System 6.0.7, and Disinfectant 2.4 showed that several files had corrupted resource forks. Then, when I tried to copy files onto the hard drive, it would copy some but not others, without apparent reason-- I was copying Hypercard 2.0.2 files off new Claris diskettes--giving an error message something like "File Doesn't Exist." So I tried doing a low-level format and reinstall of the system. The installer mostly wouldn't work and in fact acted odd: several times it ejected the "System Startup" disk then asked for the "System Startup" disk (which it accepted when I shoved it back in). Anyway, once it *did* install the system, but problems remained: Hypercard gave weird system bombs (bus error, mostly), so I decided to get fresh system files from work and try again. Now the system just won't install: when I try, I get "Unknown Error - 299." Ugh. I can boot off the floppy, but even then, the drive doesn't want to copy some files (I repeat, this is apparently a random process). So, I really hope someone has a bright idea, or I am going to be talking to MacFriends in the morning and then, in all likelihood, packaging up the IIsi and sending it back. -- Tom Maddox tmaddox@milton.u.washington.edu "It is imperative to write invulnerable sentences." -- Hugo Ball
