Message-ID: <1991Mar29.220256.11378@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu> Organization: University of Illinois at Urbana Date: Fri, 29 Mar 1991 22:02:56 GMT Lines: 36 I'm posting this for a coworker. We are trying to use the BYU 3c505 version 8 packet driver to run both tcp/ip and Novell on one machine. The machine in questionis a 286 clone. The following is the section of my autoexec.bat that loads the driver and loads/logs on to the Novell server. 3c505 -d 0x60 5 0x300 0xd000 ipx net3 set path = h:\;%path%; cd\ e: login freeman c: Everything seems to work just great. I can start up applications on Novell and do all kinds of things, exit out of them, etc. I can also run tcp/ip (both KA9Q and cmu-pcip) and it works. I can telnet, ftp, ping and so on. But when I try to exit the tcp/ip software, the computer hangs up and will do nothing but blink its cursor at me. I have tried loading the packet driver with the -n option as well but then tcp/ip doesn't work and I still get hung up when trying to exit. I have also tried loading the version 8 IPXPKT on top of IPX ( with and without -n and -d options) and attaching that packet driver in KA9Q as well with the same problems. So I would appreciate any suggestions or known cures for what is either a bug or my stupidity! Thanks in advance, Jay Freeman. WE would be very interested in talking with anyone doing this now, since we posted this note to comp.protocols.tcp-ip, we have experimented our brains. out cannot make any progress. Thanks, Bill rogers@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu
