Having resurrected the machine she's now discovered that it is 100% C compiler free. This seems like a ****** stupid idea for a Unix box, but I suppose it was meant for apps only.. So.. how to go about getting the C compiler?? Do you *NEED* the Sun offering or are binaries for gcc available from somewhere? Even if the gnu binaries are about, are the libraries, etc. still needed from Sun?
