I had a problem with the Quantum drives that gave error messages
with SCSI failures also.  LaCie helped me track down the problem
that turned out to be the ROM version on the hard drive.  Which
version (using say SilverLining Disk Info) ROM is on the drives
if it is Quantum?  I posted a message with the corrected ROM version
a few months ago.  I can dig it out if you need them.
