Message-ID: <1991Apr1.230329.17879@elroy.jpl.nasa.gov> Date: 1 Apr 91 23:03:29 GMT Sender: news@elroy.jpl.nasa.gov (Usenet) Reply-To: pjs@euclid.jpl.nasa.gov Followup-To: comp.windows.x Organization: Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA/Caltech Lines: 18 Nntp-Posting-Host: euclid.jpl.nasa.gov We may be getting some Sun workstations running SunOS that we'd like to be able to enjoy DECWindows connections with VAXen running VMS. As far as I know the only product offering DECnet connectivity on a Sun is Sun's SunLink DNI. Question: will this work with the MIT X server? If I had DNI and the right connections available to me, I'd test it, but I don't, and I have to make a recommendation. We're trying to maintain consistency in our GUI components over the workstations we're responsible for, so if the MIT X server doesn't support the DECnet offered by DNI, my next questions are: is this planned? When? Does any X server offer this? Is the source code available for any such server (in case the answer happens to be X/NeWS)? Am I laboring under grandiose delusions of customer convenience? -- This is news. This is your | Peter Scott, NASA/JPL/Caltech brain on news. Any questions? | (pjs@euclid.jpl.nasa.gov)
