I noticed the same behavior.  Unless there was a sitename for forwarding
after the message id of the log file line, then no newline appeared, and the
log file looked very funny indeed.

I do not currently have the problem, and can not recall what fixed it.
I simply wanted to state that I have also seen this behavior.
