Actually, I have heard of it, but am not familiar with it. I assume it just provides extra minerals. It was probably developed to get hunters to pay farmers for rights. It's silly, I'd rather enhance meat development. I do like the taste of a farm buck over one that's been eating greasewood and buckbrush...
