There is a big legal difference between doing something intended to scare a thief off and something intended to injure him. The latter is considered an excessive response to mere theft, and is very seriously illegal. (As in, you could be in much more trouble than he is.) The interior siren should be okay, but locking the doors on him so you can blast his eardrums uninterrupted is not.
