I just found this news group but there have been alot of discussion on
line-powered modem (one company advertised for $65) in comp.sys.laptops.

I assume the readers/posters of this news group are more knowledgable about
modems.  My question is: how reliable/good is this kind of line-powered
modem?  Obviously for 2400 Baud, $65 is not a bad price.  The size 
(comparable to a 25 pin connector) and no extra power make it very 
attractive.

Forgive me if such a discussion has been on this news group and if this 
is the case can someone send me old postings?
