Our local alternate pays 45 cents per name to obtain the names from Michigan Bell to prepare their book. They used to pay two cents per name less than ten years ago. They didn't actually tell me how long ago it was, but the young lady I spoke to couldn't have been working longer than that. The practice of including "ringers" in compiled lists is common in compilations of information, but the practice doesn't mean that people actually steal the information frequently.
