I don't know about you, but my middle fingers are longer than my pointer fingers. Hence, they tend to touch the d and k keys while my pointer fingers are "floating" over the j and f keys. They were also smart enough to put the nipples in the middle of the key were I tend to put my finger instead of on the very edge of the key (see sun-4 keyboard).
