This port is being done as part of a Darpa-sponsored project to use the xkernel as the foundation for implementing Mach's "Network Server". In addition to re-implementing the xkernel as a Mach user task, the project will involve implementing several network protocols---including the Internet protocol suite, Mach IPC, and various experimental protocols---for use by applications running on top of Mach. The project also involves a significant research component, including research into efficient protocol implementations on multiprocessors. The available positions offer a unique opportunity... o To contribute to a significant software system that will have an important impact on distributed computing; o To be an integral part of a dynamic research project; and o To live in Tucson. The ideal candidate would have an MS in Computer Science, experience writing production-quality code, involvement in a large software project, a working understanding of network protocols, and some familiarity with fault-tolerant protocols. Please send a resume and a list of references (by email is ok) to: Professor Larry L. Peterson Department of Computer Science University of Arizona Tucson, AZ 85721 llp@cs.arizona.edu
