There hasn't been much of a response to my list of archives. I still hope some
people find it useful and therefore i repost a new version with more
information and a somewhat different format. I'll keep trying to update and
post this list every once in a while, unless people object seriously.

For ftp sites and pad connections you'll find the directories to look for with
a short description of the contents, next to the mail server addresses you'll

  We are a very new server, therefore we have not very much programs at this
  time. We want to support Public-Domain-TeX (now we have a copy of Graham
  Toal's ArMaTuReS from phoibos). We want to support all programs and
  informations used for programming (and for comfortable use of the Archimedes
  of course).
  The most important program today is the small macro assembler TLA of Frank
  Lancaster. We want to support all program languages (also exotic languages
  (except Basic)). It's planned to ask per News for subroutines for specific
  problems of programming the (e.g. menus in C, graphics in ml...) in the
  future. Now we test, if we can use !Submit/!Extract as archiver. Today we
  use no archiver at all (except TeX, which uses !Sparkplug).

Archimedes programs

  The archive of interest to this group contains public domain software for
  ARM based systems (Archimedes, A3000, Rxxx etc), mainly put together from
  Usenet postings and private submissions.

  To get the current contents of the archive, send a message to
  info-server@newcastle.ac.uk with the following content:

  The index file also contains a lot of other useful information, such as
  locations of other archives, and a trouble shooting guide.
