In the back of the manual that came with my Trident VGA card, it says
that if you are using a SCSI adapter you have to change from fast
address decode to slow address decode by switching switch 5 to the on
position.  This method worked for me.

It also says, if you continue to have problems, then change jumper J2 to
the Standard Interface position.  This is the jumper that controls bus
size detection.
