  Friend has an older Logitech c7 mouse that doesnt track well when
used on a mouse pad. Moving the mouse doesnt motivate continued
motion of the mouse cursor - it just stops or slows to a crawl.

  Seems to work OK on a rather rough table top but kind of hard on the
hand and mouse. Putting ordinary xerox paper on the pad under the mouse
seems to improve things somewhat. 

  It seems fairly obvious to be a rolling frition problem but not sure
what/why. The mouse ball/assembly has been cleaned several times without
an improvement in this problem.
