Try cleaning it. You can get a mouse cleaning
kit from most computer stores that consist of 
velcro balls, a velcro mouse pad and a bottle
of solution. These will clean deposits off the 
rollers and get hair out from the bearings 
(which is whats probably gumming up your mouse).
I remember having to clean a mouse for 15 minutes
continuously before all the crud was gone.
