As a couple of data points, a local discount store (the SoftWareHouse)
has the HyperCard Development Kit for around $160 and the other day I
noticed that the USC student store has it for $69.

Not having seen the documentation, I can't tell you if it is worth
$160, but it probably is worth at least $69. So, perhaps Claris could
lower their price a bit.
