All flavors of Unix for the IBM architecture that I am aware of are System V-based, except for the very recent port of BSD itself. BSD and SysV are NOT the same; they are gradually merging, but there are still major differences between the installed base of the BSD and SysV camps. There have also been numerous reports that Unixes with major proprietary extensions (such as A/UX, although I am not sure than any of the reports have been about A/UX specifically) have peculiar problems, including the possibility of being incompatible with *both* BSD and SysV source without major changes.
