What I'm trying to do is get a "meta" key in a terminal emulator. Meta behaves like control or shift, and when held down with another key it sets the high bit of the character. Holding down control and meta while pressing a character must also work. A good VTxxx terminal emulator with support for this built in would be perfect. VersaTerm Pro has something like this, but the characters it generates have nothing to do with the key labels, and they cannot be changed. It also doesn't allow control-meta characters. Thanks, Mike mrose@stsci.edu
