Summary: Where is the kerning information for ATM Fonts hidden? Keywords: kerning, ATM, font manager Message-ID: Date: 8 Apr 91 13:27:07 GMT Sender: news@informatik.uni-hamburg.de (Mr. News) Distribution: comp Organization: University of Hamburg, FRG Lines: 13 Hello, I`m just learning programming the MAC Toolbox and noted a pretty bad kerning, if I scale an ATM font (in my case TIMES24). Now Word4 does this bad kerning too, but RagTime and WriteNow include print options like "use printer spacing" or "optimal kerning for Laserprinter" which get rid of this kerning problems even if you`re not printing on a PostScript Device but on an ordinary Matrix Printer with ATM. So my question is: where do these programms know from, how to kern scaled fonts correctly? Hauke Hess / University Hamburg / Germany
