Here's a new one (hopefully):

I have a Fax modem that will work on IBMs and Macs, but not on the NeXT.
How about using some IBM FAX software on my FaxModem? From what I
understand, the modem isn't really 9600 bps, it just emulates that 
speed through data compression. If that is the case, then I may not have
to go out and pay another $400-500 for a new FaxModem.
