Message-ID: Date: 10 Apr 91 03:33:20 GMT Sender: news@uflorida.cis.ufl.EDU Distribution: comp.sys.next Organization: UF CIS Department Lines: 28 Hi, I feel I was forced (unhappy) to buy a floppy to keep up with NeXT, because SoftPC has to be install from floppy, Improv, Upgraded Mathmatica,Sybase .. will be distributed on floppy. and because I fall in love with NeXTCube too early so I can't I get a free floppy. All the signs I sense from NeXT is "Buy a floppy !" Well, I did try to buy a DIT floppy2.9 w/floppyworks but I failed to install a DIT floppy last week. We(me &NeXTconnection&DIT) thought I got a defective floppy after we tried all the possible solutions, change floppy's address, check termination switch ...etc. BTW, the error message under monitor window is "sc:Didn't completed". The system only could boot up after I detached the floppy SCSI2 cable. But the floppy is ok after it returned to NeXTconnection checked by their tech people. So there are two more possiblities can go wrongs 1. I didn't install it properly, although I think I didn't mess it up. 2. I got a new 040 board with a defective scsi port. Here goes my question, How can I check my SCSI port is ok without hook up any device ? I hope I'm wrong by proving SCSI port is ok. Anybody got a defective SCSI2 port before ? Thanks for your response Jing
