a friend of mine told me about a novell problem recently:

if he runs wordstar on a workstation in his novell net,
and tries do print documents smaller than 2 pages (exactly
one page, then), the system chooses the printer paper tray
in a random manner. sometimes the document is printed on
single paper sheets, sometimes on the continuous paper.

i don't have further information now, sorry.

if you know this problem and how to fix it, please reply or mail.
