I'm a :vi fanatic from way-back - but now I've converted... It took a few hacks :to the Lisp source (vip.el) to get exactly like I wanted, but I can make it :do what ever I want too. Multiple windows, unlimited undo, compile from :withing the editor, mail interface (sending and receiving), Usenet news reader, :and on and on ... All in one package!!! (Oh yea - and Xwindow support). why the devil should an editor compile, read mail, or read news? emacs is just a visual shell. --tom
