Yohanan) Newsgroups: comp.unix.sysv386 Subject: SysVR4 UNIX :: Dell or UHC ???... Summary: Dell or UHC, whose UNIX should I buy? Keywords: sysVr4, Dell, UHC, X11, realtime, 486 Message-ID: <10756@uwm.edu> Date: 4 Apr 91 06:31:08 GMT Sender: news@uwm.edu Organization: University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Lines: 26 I have recently purchased an ALR PowerPro 486 and would like to run UNIX on it...I will be doing X Windows development and I also need to have the "real-time" capabilities of SysVR4 for my applications... I have narrowed down my options (which aren't many) to either Dell's product or UHC's... I was leaning towards UHC, but I was shocked to find-out that they have removed their University and Institutional discounts (of which I qualify for)...This prices their software at $1300 for single-user (and this does not include hard-copy documentation [add another $700])...Dell comes with a price of $950 for single-user with hard-copy documentation... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Has anyone had problems with either product, or could anyone justify the extra price of UHC's UNIX...I am willing to spend the extra money if I need to, but (obviously) would prefer not to. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Please e-mail me or post if you could help me with my problem...Thanks! =steve --
