Subs can indeed give the surface ships troubles, and I have a
tee shirt with the "two types of ships - subs and targets"
logo on it that was given to me by a buddy that hacks nuke steam
for a living.  Still, it is not the whole story.  I know some 
guys out of Moffet that have a serious record for messing up the
days of sub folks, having really good numbers of "kills" in some
of the later block P-3s.  The newest gear in the P-3 is keeping 
up nicely with the latest sub technologies, though the older P-3s
are having troubles; fortunately, they are getting upgrades.
