Lines: 33 Departmental Seminar at 2pm, 17th April in F10, 80 South Bridge. Ken MacCullam, CAD Centre, Strathclyde, "Design Configuration Management" Configuration is generally viewed as a task which involves the assembly of components in different ways to meet a variety of requirements and according to a set of constraints. Most computer based systems for configuration are "once-through" generation systems. However in the context of engineering design where exploration of different concepts takes place, there is a requirement to "manage" configurations dynamically through the product life-cycle. This presentation will describe the results of an investigation into a design configuration management system using non-monotonic decision graphs, and the application of the system to large-scale power generation systems design. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To find out more information about this or future seminars, please contact Toby Walsh, or -- Toby Walsh, JANET: Toby_Walsh@uk.ac.edinburgh Dept of Artificial Intelligence, ARPA: Toby_Walsh%uk.ac.ed@nsfnet-relay.ac.uk 80 South Bridge, UUCP: ...!ukc!ed.ac.uk!Toby_Walsh Edinburgh EH1 1HN TEL: +44 31 650 2725
