We currently have several platforms available to us now, but will certainly change (upgrade) hardware 2-3 years down the development cycle. Porting software is costly, time consuming, and most of all: boring from the research point of view. Recently the Computer Research Group at Livermore Labs announced a portable development tool for parallel hardware called SISAL. Do you know of any other such tools which might help with the problem described above?
