Graifer) Organization: Coastal Capital Funding Corp., McLean, VA Lines: 27 We are using a pair of CrossCom ILAN-1 (TM) to bridge the ethernets in our Northern Virginia and Orange County, S. Calif. offices. Each unit has four slots which will accept any mix of T1, Fractional T1, ethernet and token ring cards. We've had no problems with the units, and we plan to bridge another office later this summer: Just drop another card in one of the units. We went this way because when we bought them, we thought we might be bridging a Token-Ring based office, but that project collapsed. They still seem to be excellent units. We've had no problems. The biggest problem was getting MCI/PacTel/C&PTel to get their act together on the line. It didn't help that one of our DSUs was DOA. If you do mix Ethernet and Token ring, remember that a bridge provides a connection at MAC (Data Link) Layer. Getting Network Layer datagrams originally designed for the other media into your hosts is another matter. CrossCom can be reached at 1-800-388-1200 or 1-508-481-4060. Disclaimer: We have no connection to CrossCom except as satisfied customers. Oh, we bought our units through Glasgal (a big comm equip. distributor). Dan -- Daniel A.
