We are running 18.55 emacs on an HP 835.  Emacs has always done
something that is very strange.

When I monitor the emacs processes running, each takes a relatively
large percentage of the CPU event when the user is not editing.
(One emacs takes 50-75%, with 5 running, each takes 15-20%).  Does
anybody have any ideas or has anybody else seen this.  emacs on 
our
SUN equipment does not exhibit this.

I'm also investigating if HP knows anything about this.
