I have just started looking into creating fonts for the Macintosh.  I was 
wondering if anyone could help me with a couple of questions:

   1. How do I tell the laserwriter to print with a user defined 
      font.  In other words, if i write a program to create a new font
      dictionary in postscript, How do I make programs such as MS word
      aware of this font.

   2. What exactly is a type 1 font.  Are not all outline defined fonts
      equally high quality (excluding artistic considerations).
