It can emulate Emacs (Epsilon style), Brief, VI, MS-Word WordPerfect, and maybe more. I personally use it's native mode. It is fully mouse compatible, in fact, I have found I now use my mouse to do about everything. I have added about 5 functions to the built in menu, was very easy to do. I used to use Multi-Edit which was awesome, but I like SPE a little better for the way it's windows and block marking work. Ie, if you have a full screen window, just click the right mouse button on the bottom of the window or left side of the window anywhere and the window splits right there. the windows work in much the same way as like X/MS Windows do, with scroll bars, resizeing is easier than any windows package I've used, moveing them, makeing them into icons, etc. Very impressive. It's language is PolyAWK (C-like language, just an extended AWK, simple, but powerful). On-line documentation, key-bindings, etc. At first I was skepticle, now I'm fully convinced! Call Programmer's Connection at 800-336-1166. SPE retails for about $295, but ^^^ has it for like $245. Tech support is very friendly and knows a ton. No bull. Comes with users manual, Library reference (all the AWK functions), and "Functions by Catagory." I've yet to find something it didn't have/couldn't do, except of course for a built in terminal commun- ications package (only Multi-Edit has that, although I am working on it for SPE!)... -- Chris Bailey :: baileyc@tramp.Colorado.EDU :: University of Colorado Boulder Ride fast! take chances! but tread lightly!
