Turned out /net/spool doesn't work for subdirectories but /spool does.
Now, from looking at the pop server code, it looks like I need a file
named 'popusers' with userid's and passwords.  I've tried to code them
like this:

user1 password

and

user1:password

Neither seems to work.  Can anyone help me out?
