I am working on a project in business school on the diffusion of new
products.  I am looking for data on the historical sales of PC software
by category (e.g. spreadsheets).  I have already contacted the Software
Publishers Association, but they only have data beginning in 1987.

Does anyone have such data or know of a source where I might find
it?  I would appreciate any suggestions in this area.
