Time to call on the net.wisdom. I've obtained a Compaq Deskpro /286 without a hard drive, but lacking a hard drive. We've got a Seagate drive, and all the cables, and even a HD controller card, which we managed to configure so the Compaq would let it exist in a slot. But! With the original floppy plugged into the original 1/2 hard controller, and the hard drive plugged into its (full-length) controller, the Compaq will not recognize the existence of the hard disk. We have no docs for the Compaq. So I need to ask two questions of you: 1) Does Compaq have an 800 tech support number? 2) Do you personally know how to get this baby set up? Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Mike Stangel m-stangel@uiuc.edu
