In our environment I need to differentiate between floppies, hard discs, network discs and RAM discs. Does anybody have routines in either C or assembler that would let be write a function that takes a drive letter/number as a parameter and returns what kind of disc it is? I'm trying to write a program that creates a zip file of each hard disc on a PC. The zip files are then backed up onto our mainframe and copied to tape. Does anybody have a better backup method for PCs networked to a Unix box using PC-NFS?
