I am trying to connect a Western Digital ESDI controller (WD1007v) to an IBM 70MB Extended ESDI Fixed Disk Drive (#3988 type 0667). The computer is a TOP-286 with an 286-BIOS(c) 1987 AMI with a ROM BIOS date of 03-03-89. The controller works with both floppy drives but does not recognize the fixed disk at all. With WDFMT Rev 2.10 I get an Error with "Status 11 Error 4". With EasyDiag I get "Status = 51 Check Error Register, and Error = 4 Abort Command". I am running with a 150 Watt power supply and power is going to the fixed drive. The ESDI controller's jumpers are set at: W7: 1-2 W1: none W3: none W12: none W6: none W8: 2-3 W5: none There are two ROMs with the following IDs: 62 000318-031 WDC '89 62 000271-061 WDC '89 Any ideas on how to get the controller to recognize the fixed drive? Thanks Paul Szemkow
